All e-way bill and e-invoice API calls

Reject an e-way bill raised against you

POST /v1/ewaybill/reject

Short answer

Send the e-way bill number of a document another party generated against your GSTIN. It is rejected and you get the rejection time back. It works only within 72 hours of generation, and never on an e-way bill you generated yourself.

Cost: 3 credits per successful call. A rejection or an upstream failure is never charged.

Every call accepts "test_mode": true and returns a sample in the live shape, free. Set up your API credentials before the first real call.

Who can reject

The other party involved in the e-way bill can reject it when it was generated by the supplier or recipient. The supplier or recipient can reject it when it was generated by the transporter.

The window is 72 hours from generation. After that the e-way bill can no longer be rejected.

Finding what to reject

Use the other-party list to see every e-way bill raised against your GSTIN on a given date, then reject the ones that are not yours.

Trying to reject your own

An e-way bill you generated yourself cannot be rejected. The network answers with error 341 and a plain message. Cancel it instead, within 24 hours.

Questions

Is a rejected e-way bill the same as a cancelled one?
No. Rejection is done by the other party; cancellation is done by the generator. They have different time limits, 72 hours and 24 hours.
