All e-way bill and e-invoice API calls

E-way bill JSON validator (free)

POST /v1/ewaybill/validate

Short answer

Send the same payload you would send to generate an e-way bill and get back a list of errors and warnings, without contacting the government network. It costs nothing and uses only your API key.

Cost: Free. No credits, and no government credentials needed.

Every call accepts "test_mode": true and returns a sample in the live shape, free. Set up your API credentials before the first real call.

Errors and warnings

An error means a rule is unambiguous and the payload will be refused. A warning means something is probably wrong or only applies in some cases. Warnings never block a real call.

The check is deliberately narrow. It catches the recurring, mechanical mistakes, not the government's full schema.

Passing is not approval

A payload that passes can still be refused: a cancelled GSTIN, a duplicate document or wrong portal credentials are all checked only by the government network.

Request fields

FieldTypeRequiredMeaning
payloadobjectYesThe e-way bill JSON you would send to generate one.

Send your API key in the x-api-key header. Government API credentials are used for the one call and never stored.

Example

The request below runs in test mode, so it is free and files nothing. Remove test_mode for a real call.

curl -X POST "https://www.gstinapi.in/v1/ewaybill/validate" \
  -H "x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "payload": { "supplyType": "O", "docType": "INV", "docNo": "INV-1001" } }'

Response

{
  "success": true,
  "charged": 0,
  "note": "Passing here does not guarantee acceptance: NIC also checks things this cannot see (cancelled GSTIN, duplicate document, your portal credentials)."
}
