Update the transporter on an e-way bill

POST /v1/ewaybill/update-transporter

Short answer

Send the e-way bill number and the new transporter's ID (their GSTIN or TRANSIN). The transporter on the e-way bill changes and you get the update time back.

Cost: 3 credits per successful call. A rejection or an upstream failure is never charged.

Every call accepts "test_mode": true and returns a sample in the live shape, free. Set up your API credentials before the first real call.

Who can change the transporter

Only the current transporter can change it. If no transporter has been assigned, the generator of the e-way bill can.

The e-way bill must be active and within its validity, and the transporter ID must be a valid GSTIN or TRANSIN.

What happens next

The new transporter then sees the e-way bill in their own list (see the transporter list call) and can update the vehicle and extend validity.

Questions

Can I remove a transporter?
The call assigns or replaces a transporter. This page documents only that: it does not describe clearing the field.
