GSTIN to contact details: the mobile number and email registered against a GST number

Upload a spreadsheet of GSTINs and get it back with each one’s registered mobile number and email filled in, next to its legal name, status and address from the GST network. Built for vendor onboarding, KYB and collections teams who have a GST number and need to reach the business behind it.

From 4 credits per GSTIN on the Scale pack, GST details included. No contact on record is marked as such. Malformed and not-found rows are free.

What comes back for each GSTIN

The contact columns, Registered Mobile and Registered Email, are added to your sheet or filled in place if your sheet already has them. Next to them come the GSTIN’s registration details, read live from the GST network: legal name, trade name, registration date, active or cancelled status, taxpayer type and address, so you know whose contact it is. A last column, the row outcome, says OK when a contact was found, No contact on record when the lookup ran and nothing was on file, and the reason when a row could not be looked up at all.

Every other column in your file is left exactly as it was, so a vendor master or a debtor list round-trips with its own layout.

Why the GST portal does not show this

Every GST registration starts with a mobile number and an email address: Part A of the registration application asks for them, and each is verified with a one-time password before the application can go further. So a contact exists for every GSTIN.

The public Search Taxpayer page on the GST portal does not display it. Without logging in you can see the legal and trade names, the effective date of registration, the constitution of business, the principal place of business and the returns filed, and nothing about who to call or write to. A verification lookup is how a business gets from a GST number to a contact it can act on.

How to run it on a list

  1. Sign in and open Bulk GSTIN Check in the dashboard, then choose Contact.
  2. Upload an .xlsx file whose header row has a GSTIN column. A header named "GST No.", "GSTIN" or anything containing "GST" is recognised. If the sheet already has a Mobile or Email column, those are filled in place.
  3. The check runs in the background while you watch progress. You can leave the page.
  4. Download the result: your own file, with the GST details, the two contact columns and the outcome column filled in.

What it costs

Contact lookups spend the same credits as everything else on gstinapi.in, at a rate set by the best pack your account has ever bought. Accounts on free credits pay the Starter rate.

  • The GST details on each row are included in that price.
  • A GSTIN with no contact on record is charged, because the lookup was made; the status column says so.
  • Malformed GST numbers, GSTINs the GST network has no record of, and provider errors cost nothing.
  • Up to 2,000 rows per file. A repeat of the same GSTIN within 180 days gets its contact from our store, so re-running a list is quick; the GST details are always looked up live.

What it is for, and what it is not for

The registered contact is the person the business chose to be reachable at for its GST registration. That makes it the right number for a business reason connected to that GSTIN: confirming a new vendor before the first purchase order, reaching a customer whose invoice is overdue, verifying that the party on a document is who they say they are, or completing a know-your-business check.

A mobile number and an email belong to a person, often the proprietor or an authorised signatory, and are personal data under Indian law. Use them for the business purpose you looked them up for. The Contact option is not a lead list, and it must not be used to send unsolicited marketing or bulk messaging to people who have no relationship with you.

What to expect from the data

  • The contact is the one on the registration record, which can be a consultant’s or a chartered accountant’s rather than the owner’s. Treat it as a starting point, not proof of identity.
  • It can be out of date. A business that changed its number and did not amend its registration still shows the old one.
  • Not every GSTIN has a contact on record with the provider. Those rows come back empty and marked.
  • It only runs one way, from GSTIN to contact. There is no lookup from a mobile number to a GSTIN.
  • The registration details on each row are the Search set, read live from the GST network. For filing frequency and the last GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B periods filed, run the Profile option on the same list.

Frequently asked questions

Can I find the mobile number and email from a GST number?

Yes, with the Contact option of the Bulk GSTIN Check. Upload an Excel file of GSTINs and the result comes back with the registered mobile number and email for each one, next to its legal name and status. The GST portal’s public search does not show the contact.

How much does a GSTIN to contact lookup cost?

4 credits per GSTIN on the Scale or Business pack, 6 on Starter or free credits, which is ₹1.60, ₹2.00 and ₹4.80 at those packs’ per-credit rates. The best pack you have ever bought sets the rate. A GSTIN with no contact on record is charged; malformed and not-found rows are not.

Whose contact details are these?

The ones on the GST registration record, which every registration must have and verify with a one-time password. They are usually the proprietor’s or an authorised signatory’s, and sometimes a consultant’s. They may be out of date if the business changed its number without amending its registration.

Is there an API endpoint for this?

Yes, GET /v1/gstin/{gstin}/contact, for accounts that have bought a credit pack. It returns the same fields as a bulk row, at the same price, up to 500 charged lookups a day. Any account can try it free with the test GSTIN 00AAAAA0000A1ZT. For a long list, the Bulk GSTIN Check upload is quicker.

Can I search a GSTIN from a mobile number?

No. The lookup only runs from a GSTIN to its contact details.

Is it allowed to look up contact details from a GSTIN?

For a business purpose connected to that GSTIN, such as vendor onboarding, know-your-business checks or collections. A mobile number and email are personal data under Indian law, so use them for the purpose you looked them up for and not for unsolicited marketing.
